The L-1011-500 TriStar was a three-engine wide-body aircraft. Announced in November 1975, this model first flew in 16 October 1978. It was designed by Lockheed as a true long-range aircraft with a shortened fuselage with less 4.1 m in comparison with standard TriStars. A larger wingspan and active ailerons provided a higher MTOW.
